Today is the 10th anniversary of the Katrina disaster in my home town New Orleans. 1800 lives lost and hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes. Lots of recovery, rebuilding and healing has transpired in 10 years. There are still many that have never made it back home to the Big Easy. The resilience of many of my family and friends plus the amazing energy of the recovering city were some of the main inspirations for me starting to paint again. This is a piece from my New Orleans rising series. The energy, rhythm, music, culture, family and friends all emerging from the flood.
